This project was completed with Andrew Levitt, a professor at the University of Waterloo School of Architect. Andrew had the idea to create a table that reflected the “topography” of the knots in a specific piece of black walnut that he had found. Using a photo to trace the wood grains I created the digital file and undertook the CNC milling of the item. Andrew completed the assembly, finished the table, and supplied the photographs below. It was a fun collaboration!
One challenges was that I had to cut the table legs and table top out of one piece of wood which you can see in the image of the digital model below.
