Spring Update

I was pleasantly surprised to recently arrive up at the food forest, and see a mostly lush landscape. All of the trees planted (apples, pears, hazeulnuts, serviceberries, alders, buartnuts, black walnuts, butternuts) and berries (red, white, black currants, jostaberries, honeyberries, raspberries), garlic, chives, oregano and thyme had taken.

Unfortunately none of the strawberry, or groundcherries took. 100% of the sunchoke's I planted last fall are growing this spring, which is an amazing result. About 25% of the groundnuts took.

With Sonja, and my parents help we completed the fence around the orchard, and added old CD's on wire cables about 6-7ft tall to deter the deer.
